Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Driving into The Great Smoky Mountains National Park Is something to be seen, although the increase and decrease in elevations can be a little nerve racking when your driving an RV thousands of feet in the air. Going though the mountains and seeing the views from so many different areas make you wonder why so many people aren’t more interested. Being December, it is a breathtaking time of year with fall just ending. Our first day setting up camp before going into the mountain, they received 3 inches of snow above 3k feet. It was very nice to wake up to and take a picture of (pics below). We knew that this was going to be an exciting adventure. Due to some time restraints, we only got to hike the Laurel Falls Trail. Although we wanted to see more, this absolutely hit the spot! The description is below.

Yes, you will come across this sign when hiking Laurel Falls! The Laurel Falls trail leads to an 80 foot falls with some great views. The roundtrip hike is only 2.6 miles, but has so much to see along the way. When your traversing up to the falls, you walk along a pretty narrow path that at times can make you feel uneasy if heights freak you out sometimes. You climb about 315 feet to the falls, and the elevation at the falls itself is between 2,500-2,600 feet. It was worth the time! After leaving the park, we stayed in Gatlinburg, TN. which was also really cool for the upcoming holidays. Next stop, Congaree National Park and Charleston, SC!
