How two unsuspecting people decided to RV for a year!

If you only knew the two of us, you would have never thought that we could possibly have the idea of traveling the U.S. by RV. Both of us, regardless of background, have lived in big cities the majority of our lives. In 20 years of being together, we have never camped once! There comes a point in your life when opportunities are a lost thought. Neither one of us ever wanted to believe “When we retire, we can do this!” What if we don’t have the opportunity to do it? What if life doesn’t play out the way we expected? Once the Covid epidemic seemed to hopefully be tamed, we decided to wholeheartedly take a break, and fulfill one of our dreams, see and explore all the national parks we always wanted to see.

My wife has worked in corporate America for 25 years, worked her way from a public accountant to a CEO. I have worked in the hospitality industry before graduating from college and left the industry to become an ELA teacher for the last 16 years. We bought an owned our own dog grooming location in Philadelphia winning numerous awards for not only the facility itself, but for the many charities we dedicated ourselves too.

We felt this is our one chance to do what so many people have talked about, but not yet accomplished. We are hoping to record not only the great adventure that awaits us, but all the failures, mistakes, and advice to newbies like ourselves who are willing to take the plunge, not just fulltime, but the weekend warriors as well.

During Covid, we traveled to California with our two dogs and lived in Santa Barbera for a summer. It was such a joy to travel the country with them by our side and see the country by SUV. I brag, as my dogs have seen most of the country. Our beautiful girls Nesta and Marley both passed away last summer due to age and illness. As the proud parents of two amazing dogs who blessed our lives with unconditional love throughout their lives, it is only right that we make this journey in their memory. Thank you for taking the journey with us! R.I.P. Marley and Nesta
