Grand Canyon National Park
It has been almost a month since our last blog post, so there is a lot to catch up and fill you in on some of the great parks we were able to get to since our last update. Petrified Forrest National Park was our last stop before hitting Grand Canyon. Almost everyone knows about or has learned about the Grand Canyon. It’s a magical place with lots to see and do.
The Grand Canyon covers almost 300 miles of the Colorado River and its uplands. Until arriving at the Grand Canyon, I didn’t know that it has been the homeland of 11 Native American tribes. The Colorado River splits the park into north and south rims. We stayed in the south rim, as it is easier to get to and located on the “Arizona” side of the canyon. It was just as busy as expected, but we were able to get a spot at Trailer Village RV Park located inside the Grand Canyon.
During our stay at the Grand Canyon, we got in as much as we could do. We both were feeling under the weather, but made do with what we had left in the tank, so to speak. The best part about our entire trip to the canyon was at dusk and dawn during our stay the Elks would come through our park and eat. It is fascinating to see a 300-500 pound creature only feet from you in the wild and feel safe from humans. We only had the opportunity to stay in the canyon for three nights, and you can easily spend a week. We were extremely happy to have been able to visit this park twice now.
The majority of our pics taken from the canyon are posted below. Next stop is Death Valley National Park. LET’s GO!
