Yosemite National Park

After leaving Sequoia National Park, we headed to Yosemite National Park. “First protected in 1864, Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more.” Taken from the National Park service, this is the best way to explain it. To start, Yosemite is very beautiful and there is a lot to do. Unfortunately, when we arrived it was National Park Day, so it was busy to say the least. We were able to spend one day and got in as much as we literally could.

Although seeing the giant Sequoia’s, vast meadows and wilderness areas were fantastic, the waterfalls here stole the show. Our favorite hike was was to the top of Vernal Falls. It’s a pretty strenuous 3 hour, 2.5 miles that takes you up 1000 feet to the top of Vernal Falls. The views on the way up were stunning and finally climbing up the last couple of staircases to the top made the hike worth every minute. My only regret, being selfish, was that there were less people to claim the park as our own.

Yosemite did not disappoint. Meadows, rock formations, lakes, rivers, countless viewpoints, waterfalls, museums, cemeteries, tours, and you still feel like you haven’t seen it all. I’d like to go back at a less busy time, but will not discredit the outstanding day we had at Yosemite National Park! Our next stop will be Redwoods National park and I’m dying to go deep into the forest on this one. The pictures we took during our day are below. LE'T’S GO!
