Yellowstone National Park/ Grand Teton National Park
With 2.2 million acres and half of the world’s active geysers, we knew that Yellowstone National Park was going to be a good time, but we had no idea that it would be one of the best places we would ever visit! We decided to stay at Fishing Bridge RV Park, which is located right next to the Yellowstone River. There are roughly eight different areas to go in the park, each area is unique and worth the time to visit each one. Being that we arrived in spring after a long winter, the entire park was brimming with activity. We arrived shorty after most animals gave birth, so the bears, bison, elk, wolves, and other wildlife were on full display.
We love hiking, and Yellowstone has so many trails (900 miles) it’s impossible to get bored. We have been lucky enough to experience many different national parks, each with their own unique features, but what really pushes Yellowstone to the top of lists has to be the geologic features. The hydrothermal system in Yellowstone is something to behold. From hot springs to geysers, it’s definitely one of the beautiful things that I’ve ever seen in my life and is constantly changing. Boardwalks and trails protect you from the hot springs. Not only is it a delicate area, but you would surely die from the scolding water. I could go on and on about how great Yellowstone was, getting to see Old Faithful up close and personal, but you really have to see for yourself! I, without a doubt, will definitely be returning.
After leaving Yellowstone, we headed to Grand Teton National Park. They are actually connected together in Wyoming. I refer to Grand Teton as Yellowstone’s little brother. Grand Teton may not have the thermal features that Yellowstone has, but the snow capped mountains and crystal clear glacier lakes make up for it. And if you can’t make it to Yellowstone, Grand Teton still has the “big five” in wildlife that everyone is dying to see (bears, wolves, elk, moose, bison). In all, Yellowstone and Grand Teton are simply awesome. I can’t stress it enough. We took a lot of pictures, and as always they are posted below. Next stop is Zion National Park in Utah. LET’S GO!
